Targeting Mobile Users
For the last two years, I haven’t been around anyone that still uses a desktop computer. Everyone I know is either on a laptop or, better yet, on the go running their business from their smartphone. A few years back, our agency was doing some research about mobile usage – we came to learn some exciting facts, and those facts came to be more of a great outcome. Did you know that more than 80% of the United States population runs their social media and their business, if applicable, through their mobile device?
So what does this mean? Well, let’s start with the very basics – a website, for example, has to be mobile-friendly, it has to be responsive for any device if you want to have engaging visitors. On the other end, social media is the number one spot these mobile users engage with, and businesses need to target this segment.
The world is not changing, the change is already here, and those businesses that are still running ‘old school’ can negatively impact the industry. I’ve learned among focus groups that if a site is not mobile-friendly or the business is not on Google or Social Media, it’s not worthy of exploring; it’s not a well-established business to trust.
